Background: Gen worked as a cargo hauler for SoroSuub Corporation for several years on Sullust, until, under the grip of the Empire, he lost his dental insurance and all his SoroSuub stock options. So he quit, figuring he could make it as a hauler on his own.

He tried doing it legit for a time, but couldn't quite make it work; he could barely haul 10 tons of cargo in his parents' old star cruiser. It just wasn't efficient. So he turned to smuggling. It was going great for a while until he crossed paths with some Trandoshan pirates, during a spice run, who ended up totaling his ship. So Gen took out a loan from Yosger (he seemed like a nice enough guy at the time) and bought the Smoking Blaster from a desperate Snivvian on Ord Mantell. Ever since, he's been plodding along the hyperlanes with his crew, scrimping and saving to keep the dream alive and the creditors off his tail.

Physical description: Gen is a short and lean fellow with bigger ears and eyes than your average Sullustan. He favors simple turtlenecks and out of style cargo vests from decades past. Not your idea of an imposing ship captain by any stretch of the imagination. But Gen lets his figuratively big mouth do the talking.

Personality: As owner of the Smoking Blaster, Gen takes a somewhat hands-off approach to leading his crew. Some may call him a delegator, others may call him a lazy bum. But Gen lets the crew do their jobs because he knows each member can outperform him any day of the week. Except for maybe when it comes to getting the crew out of sticky situations (a frequent occurrence), whether that's on the ground or in the space lanes. The only thing matched by his impressive piloting skill is his quick tongue.

Quote: "Alright, so who's gonna fix that loose power coupling, huh? One, two, three... Not it!"
"If no mistake have you made, yet losing you are ... a different game you should play."

Character Name: 'Traveler' Louw Wynstra
Player: Mikael Hasselstein
Species: Duros
Sex: Male Age: just past middle age
Height: 1.8m Weight: 60kg

Dexterity 2D
Blaster 3D
Dodge 3D+1

Perception 2D+1
Gambling 4D

Knowledge 2D+2
Languages 3D+1
Planetary Systems 5D
Streetwise 4D+2
Value 4D+2

Strength 2D+1

Mechanical 4D+2
Astrogation 8D
Sensors 5D+2
Space Transports 5D+2
Starship Shields 5D

Technical 4D
Computer Prog/Rep 6D
Space Transports Repair 5D

Character Points: 15 Force Points: 1
Move: 10

Equipment:  384 credits, shipsuit, comlink, vacuum suit, blaster pistol (4D), datapad, astrogation charts and files on a datacard, spacer's chest, mementoes from a dozen worlds, box of shento cigars, three boxes of Carababba tabac cigars.

Physical Description: Louw is a grizzled and somewhat older Duros. Like others of his species he has blue-ish skin, though it tinges somewhat greener than most. (This bugs him to no end, because it makes some other species with little experience with his race mistake him for a Neimoidian - a grave insult to any Duros. Other than the skin color, the clear distinction between the two - other than temperament - is the slant of the pupils (Duros have thin horizontal slits).

Personality: Louw is a veteran spacer of many years. He's been around the galaxy more times than him memory can quite recall - and he'll say that it also depends on "how you count."
He loves the sound of his own voice when it comes to telling his old stories of past adventures. Thankfully, he's not particularly boastful and most of his tales are actually misadventures.

He also has many bad habits. He smokes, drinks, gambles and whores around - at least insofar as his money supply can provide for. As a result, he's not in as good health as he might be, but he figures you only live once. There's no point in living longer if it's all going to be miserable. "It ain't going to make you live longer; it's just going to seem that way."

Furthermore, he loathes droids - astromech droids in particular.

"Astrogation is a delicate form of art," he thinks, "and you can't boil that down to some algorithm in a three-legged trash can!"

He also has a knack for getting in trouble. He did some time a few years ago for spreading what he calls 'astrogational caltrops'. These are fake records of physical objects along hyperspace routes, which have the effect of making other astrogators plot longer routes than necessary. This gave the advantage at the time to his ship for making faster trips. BoSS and the Space Ministry were not amused and they eventually discovered the hacks. They also caught up with him and had him incarcerated for a time. If he ever does that again, he's going to do it on a fake transponder.

Quote: "Oh, you should have been there! So, there were these pirates on our tails,  right, and all we've got is this underpowered duelly [double laser cannon]. So, anyway, I'm trying to astrogate us out of there, but the blast to our port engine knocked us about so much that my cigarra fell right in my crotch."

"So, I have to decide: do I finish the calculation while my privates are on fire or do I get the burn out of the way while the privateers blow us to bits?"

"Yup, them's were some times!"

"If no mistake have you made, yet losing you are ... a different game you should play."

Control: Absorb/Dissipate Energy, Accelerate Healing,
Concentration, Contort/Escape, Control Pain, Enhance Attribute
•Sense: Danger Sense, Life Detection,
•Control & Sense: Lightsaber Combat

Character Points: 33 Force Points: 2
This character is Force Sensitive.
Move: 10

Special Abilities:

Ambidextrous: Jeaubert is equally comfortable using either hand, suffering no off-hand penalties.

Technical Aptitude: Anomids have a natural aptitude for repairing and maintaining technological items. At the time of character creation only, Anomid characters get 6D bonus skill dice (in addition to the normal 7D skill dice). These bonus dice can be applied to any Technical skill, and Anomid characters can place up to 3D in any beginning Technical skill. These bonus skill dice can be applied to non-Technical skills, but at half value (i.e., it requires 2D to advance a non-Technical skill 1D).

Languages: Time to use: One round. This skill specialization is used to understand and “speak” the unique Anomid form of sign language. Only Anomids and other beings with six digits per hand can learn to “speak” this language. The skill costs the normal amount for specializations, but all characters trying to interpret Anomid sign language without the specialization have their difficulty increased by two levels because of the complexity and intricacy of the language.

Wealthy: Anomids have one of the richer societies in the Empire. Beginning characters should be granted a bonus of at least 2,000 credits.

Pacifists: Anomids tend to be pacifistic, urging conversation and understanding over conflict.

Background:

Jeaubert Gylson is living the dream.

A slicer of considerable skill, Jeaubert has thrown in with a crew of cargo haulers aboard The Smoking Blaster, a good-size freighter. Part of the crew for six months now, Jeaubert has earned his berth on board by not only maintaining the ship’s computers, but also by providing fake IDs when necessary, and by serving as a copilot. Jeaubert is not a typical Anomid; his race is predominately pacifistic, choosing to urge diplomacy and dialogue to resolve conflicts rather than violence. Jeaubert, however, has a different viewpoint, and has found himself to be quite the natural in the ways of combat—with blasters, blades, or even no weapon at all. Choosing to leave home rather than constantly argue his viewpoint to friends and family, Jeaubert has found his niche with this freighter crew. So far their jobs have been mostly on the level; however, the captain discovered that a previous owner had installed a couple smuggling compartments in one of the cabins, and this has provided a way for the crew to make a few extra credits above and beyond their ‘on the books’ revenue.

Physical Description: Jeaubert Gylson is a tall, lean, Anomid male. Although he possesses several sets of bulky, concealing clothing typical of his people, Jeaubert usually wears garments that are less cumbersome and revealing, showing off the ruddy tones of his skin that mark him as one of the growing number of non-conformists on his homeworld. Jeaubert has long, black wispy hair surrounding the bald crown of his head, large silvery eyes, and hand-sized, leaf-like ears pressed back along the sides of his head. As Anomids are born without vocal cords, Jeaubert wears a matte black vocalizer which covers his nose and mouth.

For more information about Anomids, see Galaxy Guide 12: Aliens-Enemies and Allies, pages 14-17.

Equipment: Blaster Carbine, brace of three throwing knives, vibroblade, Rucksack, spacer’s chest (chest contains a wide variety of clothing of different styles), 5 spare blaster packs, datapad, bracer computer, portable computer (Jeaubert’s computers and datapad have various slicing programs installed), medpacs X 3, Utility belt, 1980 credits, syntherope, grapple-Mags, combat harness (has ten pouches for various equipment, connects to utility belt through loops at the bottom of the harness), shoulder holster for blaster carbine, glowrod, infra-goggles, rebreather

Character Points: 17 Force Points: 1
Move: 10

Appearance: Eira is a bit on the tall side for a human female, with a trim figure and pretty, girl-next-door face.  She has long light brown hair with she always wears up.  She dresses in comfortable clothing made for travel and adventure, no fancy gowns and garments for this young lady.... at least when there is no need.

Personality:  Despite her young age Eira is rather mature but still given to flights of fancy as any other girl her age.  She is focused and driven but when she isn't working her playful side is evident in her sarcasm and carefree attitude.  Eira newly budding adult life is fueled by her compassion and desire to help others as well as her love of travel and her hunger for knowledge and new experiences.

Background:  Eira has been trying to help since she was a little girl.  From fetching bandages for the other kids to being the one who comforts those hurting.  Her parents were in politics and had little time for her so she gave her love to everyone else and swore to never be like them.  As she got older she exhibited talents for healing and medicine as well as dealing with all manner of species and personalities.  It wasn't difficult for Eira to get the training she desired and before too long she was out on her own looking for her niche.

For the better part of the last three years Eira bounced from ship to ship and world to world, patching up soldiers and civilians alike, keeping crew members on this side of death's door and generally building herself a nice little reputation.... but it was time for another ship, another world.  Gotta stay hungry

Equipment: 1990 credits, wardrobe, medpacs (3), datapad, datadisks with Rebel Alliance information
