Greetings, gentlebeings!

I am interested in playing a slicer. I know you didn't post anything about needing one, but a good slicer always comes in handy. And this guy will be GOOD. I will work up a character sheet; let me know if this sounds good to you. I will look at the skills and perhaps add some things to make him more useful on board the ship, but I would like his main focus to be slicing.

I'd be interested in playing the pilot! I'll post a character later on today.

Okay...I'm PMing the character sheet for approval. I have him set up to be able to copilot.

Okay, please vet the character. I've not made characters for a few years, and I may not have quite got the rules right.

I based it off the veteran spacer template from 'Pirates & Privateers', but I tweaked the attributes and added Planetary Systems and Computer prog./rep to the skill list. I figured an astrogator would be more computer-oriented than your average spacer.

At first glance, the sheet looks fine to me, Mikael. All of the math looks correct.

Nice concept!

Welcome to the site, Skyler!

I will look over your character tonight. At first glance, he seems fine to me.

Character Name: Gen Gun'bee
Species: Sullustan
Sex: Male  Age: Late 30's
Height: 1m    Weight: 32kg

Dexterity 3D
Blasters 4D
Dodge 4D

Knowledge 2D
Willpower 4D

Mechanical 4D+1
Space Transports 6D+1

Perception 3D+1
Con 5D+1
Sneak 4D+1
Hide 4D+1
Search 4D+1

Strength 2D+1

Technical 3D

Physical description: Gen is a short and lean fellow with bigger ears and eyes than your average Sullustan. He favors simple turtlenecks and out of style cargo vests from decades past. Not your idea of an imposing ship captain by any stretch of the imagination. But Gen lets his figuratively big mouth do the talking.

Personality: As owner of the Smoking Blaster, Gen takes a somewhat hands-off approach to leading his crew. Some may call him a delegator, others may call him a lazy bum. But Gen lets the crew do their jobs because he knows each member can outperform him any day of the week. Except for maybe when it comes to getting the crew out of sticky situations (a frequent occurrence), whether that's on the ground or in the space lanes. The only thing matched by his impressive piloting skill is his quick tongue.

I can add more detail, etc., just wanted to know if it's cool that I'm stepping into the ship captain role. Also I didn't pick a template so I'm not sure what to do about equipment and all that.

Sweet! When I get the okay I will post him
l.

I had considered running a Force user...but this way I will be really useful to the crew. Plus, if we happen upon a Jedi later, I can start learning then. ;)

Great concept! Everything looks great.

You can pick whatever equipment you think is important to the character. You can list the Smoking Blaster in your equipment.

This is interesting. I can see Louw having a certain level of overt contempt for Gen until such time as his fast tongue or piloting skills do get them out of a sticky situation. I think it'd be fun to still play that out, so it would be fun if Louw was still relatively new to the crew.

Louw probably acts like he's more indispensable than he really is.  Sure, he probably knows an astrogational short-cut or three, but at some point the crew will wonder if his smart mouth and abrasive attitude are worth not having to get an Astromech droid or working with their own astrogation skills. It probably wouldn't be the first time he's been kicked off a crew for that either. It's also why he hates astromech droids.

Anyway, the wisecracks will probably be at the expense of Gen's height and the lack of commanding nature.

This sounds like a fun dynamic. The "frequent occurrence" aside doesn't necessarily have to be true. It could very well be that Gen hasn't exactly pulled his weight yet as ship captain in the eyes of anyone.

I think that would be a great way to start us out, as far as interpersonal dynamic. I don't know if any of the other characters are going to be surly like mine, but with Louw Gen is going to have trouble (not to the point of outright destructiveness to the ship, but perhaps to discipline and efficiency) until he wins the Duros' respect.

Because I get the feeling that Endless is going have us starting out 'in media res', I think it would be fun to have a concurrent backstory thread, in which we play out the meeting of these characters. That way we can get to the action without which we miss out on the history.

Another thing that I saw in a PbP thread on the Rancor, is a Cantina thread in which the characters can interact in a non-official or in-game kind of way. Jedi Skyler can, perhaps, talk more about that because he's actually playing in that game, whereas I'm just a voyeur.

Now, perhaps I'm pushing things just a little to hard owing to my own enthusiasm. Perhaps we should wait for other characters to get posted.

I think we could use 1-3 more players to get a well-rounded group. I'll keep looking!
