Dungeons & Dragons 5e?
« on: January 18, 2012, 03:16:27 PM »
Is anyone here interested in a new edition of D&D.

I can't see how Wizards of the Coast can get a sizable portion of their fan base back who left after 4e turned out to be a disappointment.

I've never been much of a D&D player, though I've played a little 2e and 3(.5)e. While I've always been annoyed at the rules of that game, regardless of edition, I've heard such bad stuff about 4e that I never looked at it.

I have no intention of going 5e, unless someone really puts in a pitch for me to join their D&D game. Given that I'm currently getting plenty of RPG jollies elsewhere, I don't see that happening.

All of this has more to do with the particular version of Fantasy that D&D puts forward rather than a function of the game system. The system has only ever proven to be an added annoyance to that main charge.

I think 2e is still my favorite edition. There's not too much rules bloat.

Everything I have heard is that the 5e will be more inline with the older editions, but with a more narrative bent... the major changes will be something called Themes...

WotC seems to want to make everyone happy.

I've also read that they are reprinting 3.5e, but I'm not sure that matters, since Pathfinder (which is basically 3.75e) has attracted a sizable portion of that crowd.
