Weird Tales
« on: January 31, 2012, 05:32:53 PM »
One of my favorite hobbies is reading about paranormal phenomenon of all types: ghosts, UFOs, cryptids, psychic abilities, etc. I'd be curious if anyone here had any interesting stories to share about things you might have seen or heard yourself, stories that you've heard from family members, or just your general thoughts on this kind of thing.

The only thing that I've ever experienced is having dreams of certain events taking place and then the exact thing happens a day or two later. I guess this could be considered precognition. This happened once or twice and it was quite a while ago. About twenty years ago, I also had a dream where I had a conversation with my grandmother, who had passed away recently from cancer. Near death, she looked frail, as many cancer patients do, but in my dream, she had a youthful vitality and looked about ten years younger. I'm not sure if I pierced the veil of the afterlife or if it was just a dream.

I've had a lot of those precognition dreams. However, they usually take place many years before the RW-incident occurs, and it's usually just a short snippet.

Now, I've heard that this sort of déja vu is a function of the brain thinking it recollects something that did not happen, or was not actually dreamt, but I'm pretty sure I had those dreams.

I heard that explanation too, but if you clearly remember your dream and then the event happens, it's hard to explain that away.

The one thing I've always wanted to see was a UFO, like a round disc or something.

My grandma (the same one I mentioned above) and my grandfather lived in a house that you could say was haunted. There were quite a few strange stories.

I've had episodes of precognition. Haven't had any precognition dreams, personally.

I did once experience a bit of dream control. I've always, always, ALWAYS absolutely LOVED dreams where I was flying. When I was in college, I was talking to my girlfriend about dreams, and said that the next time I had a dream about flying, I'd have to do my best to become aware, and see how it felt. That night, I had that very thing happen. As I was taking off, my mind became aware of the fact that I was dreaming, and boy was it the SHIZNIT!!! It was so wonderful.

I always wanted to take control of my dream/nightmare where somebody was chasing me with an axe and my feet always seemed to be running in quicksand.
